Nicht allzu lang ist es her, dass Flugpersonal um das Recht eine Maske an Bord tragen zu dürfen kämpfen musste. Mittlerweile hat sich die Maskenpflicht an Bord als Standard etabliert. Bei der Mehrheit der großen Airlines müssen Passagiere nun eine Maske während des Fluges tragen. Dieser Artikel gibt eine Übersicht über die Airlines mit Maskenpflicht und die derzeit gültigen Regelungen.
In den letzten Wochen wurden zahlreiche Maßnahmen zur Reduktion des Ansteckungsrisikos an Bord diskutiert. Neben leeren Sitzplätzen machten sogar Sitzhersteller mit abschirmenden Sitzverschalungen auf sich aufmerksam. Als vorläufiger Gewinner der Diskussion scheint jedoch die Maskenpflicht hervorgegangen zu sein. Das überrascht nicht, ist dies doch die für Airlines mit Abstand günstigste und am einfachsten umsetzbare Maßnahme.

Cathay Pacific
“From 15 May 2020, passengers are required to wear face coverings in situations where they cannot maintain a physical distance of 2 metres (6.5 feet) from others, or as directed by our airline employees. This includes:

- during disembarkation.

JetBlue crewmembers have already been utilizing face coverings at work. CDC guidance defines a suitable face covering as an item of cloth that should fit snugly against the side of the face, be secured with ties or ear loops, include multiple layers of fabric and allow for unrestricted breathing. The CDC recommends surgical masks and N-95 respirators be reserved for healthcare workers and other medical first responders. KLM
“Since the Covid-19 outbreak began, KLM has introduced many measures around screening and hygiene to protect customers and KLM staff, on board and at airports. KLM’s policy is based on national (RIVM) and international (WHO, IATA) guidelines, and complies with international law and regulations. In situations where social distancing cannot be guaranteed, the wearing of face masks will be recommended or made compulsory. Some destinations already require face masks to be worn on board flights.
Starting 11 May, and simultaneous with the restoration of the KLM network, masks will be compulsory on board and during boarding. Passengers are responsible for providing their own face masks.

LOT Polish Airlines

LATAM
“Es liegt in der Verantwortung jedes Passagiers, seine eigene Maske zu tragen. Dies können traditionelle chirurgische oder N95-Operationen sowie handwerkliche Kunsthandwerke nach Geschlecht sein, sofern sie Nase und Mund vollständig bedecken.
Die Verwendung von geschlechtsspezifischen Bandanas oder Bandanas ist ebenfalls zulässig, sofern diese Nase und Mund vollständig bedecken (unten sollte kein freier Platz vorhanden sein). Die Verwendung von überlappenden Schals oder Masken aus gewebtem Material (Wollgarn) ist nicht gestattet.

“Alle SWISS Fluggäste werden gebeten, ab Montag, dem 4. Mai 2020 eine Mund-Nasen-Bedeckung für ihre Flugreise mitzubringen und an Bord ihrer Flüge zu tragen. Weiter rät die Fluggesellschaft, diese während der gesamten Reise, das heisst auch vor oder nach dem Flug am Flughafen zu tragen, wenn Social Distancing nicht ausreichend gewährleistet werden kann. Trotz Anpassungen der Abläufe ist dies auf einer Flugreise nicht immer möglich, so dass diese Massnahme als zusätzlicher Schutz vor einer SARS CoV2 Übertragung für alle dienen soll.
SWISS orientiert sich damit an den offiziellen Vorgaben zahlreicher europäischer Länder, in denen das Tragen einer Mund-Nasen-Bedeckung in der Öffentlichkeit inzwischen Pflicht geworden ist.
Als Schutz empfohlen wird eine einfache Einwegmaske (Chirurgenmaske), aber auch alle anderen Arten von Bedeckungen wie beispielsweise wiederverwendbare Stoffmasken sind möglich. SWISS informiert ihre Fluggäste vorab per SMS oder E-Mail sowie auf ihren Websites über die neue Empfehlung.
