Noch bis Ende des Monats: Im Januar 2022 gab IHG bekannt umfangreiche Änderungen am hauseigenen Loyalitätsprogramm, IHG Rewards, vornehmen zu wollen. Mittlerweile heißt das Programm “IHG One Rewards” und bietet neue Statuslevel mit neuen Vorteilen. Nun hat IHG One Rewards einen Status Match bzw. Challenge für den Platinum Elite und eine Status Challenge für den Diamond Elite Status gestartet. Den Platinum Elite Status gibt es direkt auf Probe. Im Anschluss genügen 5 bzw. 15 Nächte, um den Platinum bzw. Diamond Status bis Ende 2023 zu erhalten. Ein Status bei einem anderen Programm ist keine Voraussetzung für die Teilnahme.
IHG One Rewards Status Match – Die Details
- Sofortiger Status Match zum Platinum Elite für 120 Tage (unabhängig von einem Status bei einem anderen Programm)
- Platinum Elite Status bis Ende 2023 nach 5 Übernachtungen im Qualifikationszeitraum
- Diamond Elite Status bis Ende 2023 nach 15 Übernachtungen im Qualifikationszeitraum
- Registrierungs-Zeitraum: 18.05.2022 bis 31.07.2022
- Qualifikations-Zeitraum: 120 Tage nach Registrierung
- Status-Gültigkeit: bis 31.12.2023 (bei erfolgreicher Challenge)
Der IHG One Rewards Status Match ist eine Kombination aus Statusmatch und Statuschallenge. Den Platinum Elite Status gibt es direkt nach Registrierung für 120 Tage auf Probe. Im Anschluss sind 5 bzw. 15 Übernachtungen erforderlich, um den Platinum Status bis Ende 2023 zu verlängern bzw. den Diamond Elite Status mit einer Gültigkeit bis Ende 2023 zu erhalten. IHG One Rewards gibt euch für das Erreichen dieser Übernachtungen 120 Tage Zeit. Da der Qualifikationszeitraum mit der Registrierung beginnt, empfiehlt es sich ggf. die Anmeldung zur Challenge zeitlich auf geplante Aufenthalte abzustimmen. Beim Platinum und Diamond Elite Status handelt es sich um den zweithöchsten bzw. höchsten Status im neuen IHG One Rewards Programm. Regulär sind für deren Erhalt 40 bzw. 70 Übernachtungen notwendig. Die aktuell angebotene Challenge reduziert die Anforderung als um 88% bzw. 78%.
Das Besondere an dieser Aktion ist, dass diese wie ein klassischer Statusmatch wirkt, letztendlich aber allen Programmteilnehmern offen steht, unabhängig von einem Status bei einer anderen Kette. Zwar muss bei der Anmeldung ein anderes Hotelprogramm ausgewählt werden, allerdings stehen auch einfache Member ohne Status zur Auswahl. Vermutlich geht es IHG an dieser Stelle nur darum, Daten zu erheben und zu ermitteln woher die neugekrönten Platinum Elite Status Mitglieder kommen.
IHG One Rewards Status Match – Ablauf
Der IHG One Rewards Status Match zum Platinum Elite ist denkbar einfach. Auf der Aktionsseite wählt man einen Status (oder Mitgleidschaft ohen Status) aus, den man bei einem Loyalitätsprogramm einer anderen Hotelkette (z.B. Hilton Honors oder Marriott Bonvoy) innehat, und klickt auf „Register Now“. Anschließend kann man in einem Feld entweder die Mitgliedsnummer von IHG One Rewards oder die hinterlegte E-Mailadresse angeben und die Registrierung abschicken.
Nach dem Abschicken der Registrierung wird diese per E-Mail bestätigt und der Platinum Status wird unmittelbar im IHG One Rewards-Konto angezeigt. Der so erhaltene Platinum Status ist laut Teilnahmebedingungen 120 Tage gültig. Bei uns im Team wird jedoch bei allen der 31.12.2022 als Ablaufdatum angezeigt.

Wer den zweithöchsten Status über dieses Datum hinaus behalten möchte, benötigt fünf qualifizierende Übernachtungen in den 120 auf die Registrierung folgenden Tagen, um diesen bis Dezember 2023 zu verlängern.
Wer im Zeitraum von 120 Tagen sogar 15 qualifizierende Übernachtungen bei IHG schafft, kann sich über den Erhalt des höchsten Status bei IHG One Rewards, den Diamond Elite Status, freuen.
Abschließend die Terms & Conditions der Aktion:
“To participate in the IHG One Rewards “Status Challenge” promotion (“Promotion”), an individual must be an IHG One Rewards member and must register for the Promotion under their member number. The Promotion registration period begins on May 18, 2022 and ends on July 31, 2022 (“Promotion Registration Period”). Once a member registers for the Promotion, the member will automatically be upgraded to IHG One Rewards Platinum Elite status and can start enjoying the associated benefits. This Promotion is not available to members who reside in Greater China.
A member’s upgrade to Platinum Elite status through this Promotion will remain in effect for the 120-day period immediately following their registration. A member, however, can keep their IHG One Rewards Platinum Elite status, or even elevate themselves to Diamond Elite status, through the end of December 2023 by having a certain number of qualifying night stays during their 120-day post-registration period (the “Stay Period”). Specifically, a member with five (5) qualifying nights during their Stay Period will keep their IHG One Rewards Platinum Elite status through the end of December 2023, and if the member stays an additional ten (10) qualifying nights (for a total of fifteen (15) qualifying nights) within their 120-day Stay Period, they will earn IHG One Rewards Diamond Elite status through the end of December 2023. Because this 120-day “Stay Period” follows a member’s registration for the Promotion, each member who registers will have their own Stay Period. By way of example, a member who registers on June 20, 2022 will have a 120-day Stay Period beginning on the date of registration (June 20, 2022) and ending on October 18 , 2022 to complete their five (5) qualifying nights and keep Platinum Elite status, or their ten (10) additional (15 in total) qualifying nights to achieve Diamond Elite status, through the end of December 2023. The standard requirements for achieving various levels of Elite status under the new IHG One Rewards program, which would apply once any Platinum Elite or Diamond Elite status awarded under this special Promotion expires, are included in the IHG One Rewards Membership Terms and Conditions, which can be found at here.
To be a qualifying night under this Promotion, the room night must be part of a Qualifying Stay. Only those qualifying nights falling within the member’s Stay Period are counted for purposes of the Promotion. Room nights prior to registration or outside of a member’s Stay Period are not included. A “Qualifying Stay” is a minimum one (1)-night stay booked under a Qualifying Rate, with total spend exceeding US $30 (or local currency equivalent) for each night. Bookings made through on-line travel agencies or other reservation sites such as booking.com or expedia.com are not eligible for this Promotion. If more than one member checks into the same room, only one member is eligible to count the room nights towards the Promotion (for those nights that qualify). If a member books more than one room on the same night, the member will only receive credit for qualifying nights for one room.
Registration for this Promotion may require the input of information relating to a member’s affiliation with other hotel loyalty programs. IHG reserves the right to verify any representations made as to participation and status in such programs.
This Promotion and IHG One Rewards membership are subject to the terms and conditions of the IHG® Rewards program and/or the IHG One Rewards program, as may be applicable given the ongoing transition from the IHG Rewards program to the IHG One Rewards program. Statusvorteile bei IHG One Rewards
Wie in der Einleitung erwähnt, hat IHG nicht nur neue Statuslevel geschaffen, sondern auch die jeweiligen Statusvorteile überarbeitet. Zimmerupgrades und kostenloses Frühstück – bei anderen Hotelprogrammen Standard – erhielt man als Mitglied des IHG Rewards Club in der Vergangenheit nur in sehr begrenzter Form. Bereits die einfachen Club Mitglieder profitieren von einem Late Check-Out (nach Verfügbarkeit) bis spätestens 14:00 Uhr. Kostenfreie Upgrades (auch in Suiten) sind für Platinum Elite und Diamond Elite Mitglieder nach Verfügbarkeit möglich. Diamond Elite Mitglieder können sich zudem über ein inkludiertes Frühstück freuen, sofern sie dies als Willkommensgeschenk auswählen. IHG One Rewards Platinum Elite Status Match – Fazit
Derzeit handelt es sich hier um einen sehr großzügigen Status Match. Innerhalb kürzester Zeit kann man den zweithöchsten Status bei IHG One Rewards erhalten und nur mit 15 Nächten den höchsten Status erreichen. Da IHG durch die Überarbeitung des Treueprogramms die Statusvorteile zudem verbessert hat, kann sich der Status Match bzw. die Status Challenge durchaus lohnen. Wer einen vorhandenen Status bei einem anderen Programm hat, sollte die Aktion definitiv nutzen.
